The 2024 graduation works exhibition of the School of Fine Arts opened in the handball hall at Shipai campus of SCNU on May 18.
The exhibition presents over 300 works by 236 undergraduates and 81 master's graduates, covering art formats including Chinese painting, oil painting, printmaking, lacquer painting, sculpture, film and animation, digital media art, experimental art, visual communication design, product design, environmental design, fashion design, and jewelry design.
Wang Binwei, secretary of the Party Committee of SCNU, came to the opening ceremony and engaged with the student authors and their advisors. He fully acknowledged students' works and encouraged them to maintain cultural confidence and better shoulder the new cultural mission in the new era.
The graduation exhibition has become a brand window to display the university's achievements in talent training. It creates a vibrant artistic and cultural atmosphere in SCNU and leaves a profound SCNU imprint on the students, said Yang Chengwei, vice president of the SCNU.
Unique self-expression, rich and bold use of colors, diverse and changing creative trends... The graduate works with profound connotation have broadened the eyes of the audience to the exhibition.
Tang Zimeng, a 2023 graduate student majoring in special education from the School of Education, was deeply touched on the scene of the exhibition. "It's very meaningful for students to use art to express their emotions and thoughts, and to end their undergraduate or graduate years in this way." Tang wants to become a student at the School of Fine Arts to create beautiful works.
The exhibition lasts until May 26. On top of display at the main venue, part of graduation works are also showcased in the SCNU library and the Art Museum of the School of Fine Arts. Citizens may pay a visit inside the university for free.
Here are some of the highlights:
"The Bustling New Port of the Silk Road", by Wang Haiwen, features transportation and trade dynamics of the Maritime Silk Road in the context of industrialization and globalization.
"Sang Zi · Kun Ling (Homeland, Earthly Spirit)", by Zhang Xinpei, selects pineapple, Chinese banyan, and banana trees in the Lingnan region as the main elements.
" Ren Jian You Wei (Taste of Life)", a Chinese painting by Guan Xin, combines group portraits and street scenes to present street life.
ESLA• Morning Twilight, a product design by Zhang Zixian. It aims to help the elderly overcome the problem of disconnection from intelligent life.
"Yi Style" is still, a fashion design from Gu Siping. The designer combines Yi styles with modern aesthetics, making Yi elements more fashionable and personalized.
"Exhibition Viewing, Aesthetic Education", a figurative painting by Huang Xinyan, depicts scenes from the the Dafen Art Museum in Shenzhen, in Guangdong province.
