On May 16, the 2024 Chinese Collegiate Wushu Routine Championship ended in Tianjin, where 12 martial arts athletes from SCNU won a total of 4 gold medals, 7 silver medals, and 4 bronze medals.

Led by Huang Bo, vice dean of the School of Sports Science, and coach Niu Xiaomei, associate professor of the school, the martial arts team has won gold in the events of Tai Chi, Eight Methods and Five Steps of Tai Chi, Wu-style Tai Chi and Xiangxing Quan, all of which are different styles of martial arts.
"This is the last time I participated in such an event in my college career, I am very fortunate to have proved myself in this competition. This gold medal has drawn a successful end to my eight-year martial arts practice in college. I learn and grow through every competition." said Lin Junliang, a graduate student from the grade of 2021 from the School of Sports Science, who won gold in the Eight Methods and Five Steps of Tai Chi.

Pu Yi, a graduate student of the grade of 2023, represented the university to compete for the first time, and he won gold in Wu-style Tai Chi. "My teachers and teammates helped me overcome tension and pressure. The moment I stood on the podium, I take pride in being a member of SCNU, and this is the best proof of my efforts."

Hosted by the Chinese Student Sports Federation, the competition featured 42 events. It was also a selection platform for the second World University Wushu Games and the first Asian Collegiate Wushu Championship, attracting over 1,000 college student athletes from more than 100 universities across the country.
