Since its launch, SCNU has attached great importance to the competition. The organizing committee of SCNU, together with other units, hosted various promotion and training sessions, contributing to the record-breaking 1,662 projects submitted.
To improve the projects' quality, a training camp for innovation and entrepreneurship pioneers was held, providing professional guidance on ideas and design, technology research and development, and project fruition. Meanwhile, the committee invited professionals to help the participant teams practice oral examinations over 30 times to prepare for the competition.

The competition has been held annually since 2015. 2023 marks its 9th edition, which was jointly hosted by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China and 11 relevant other ministries, as well as the Tianjin Municipal People's Government.
