SCNU won six national awards in the Huawei ICT Competition, creating a record of the most participating teams, the most winning teams and the best results in the same kind of competition at SCNU in the past years. Prices were won in both the practice competition and the innovation competition.
In the practice competition, SCNU won the first prize in the computing track. The team of Deng Shicheng, Tang Yumeng and Cheng Junyu, students from the School of Computer Science, will participate in the global finals of the Huawei ICT competition, which is the best achievement in the past years. It is reported that the global finals attracted more than 170,000 college students and graduate students from more than 2,000 universities and institutions in a total of 90 countries and regions around the world.
This year's Ascend AI track was opened for the first time. SCNU won two national second prizes and one national third prize, accounting for 10% of the finalist teams (30 teams in total).
In the innovation competition, SCNU won one national second prize and one national third prize, accounting for 4% of the awarded teams. This year's innovation competition attracted 467 teams, nearly 1400 students from 130 universities across China to participate. After the preliminary selection, four teams of SCNU were selected to be among the top 100 teams in China, and two of them were selected to be among the top 50 teams in China after the rematch.
At SCNU, more than ten instructors and 300 students from six related colleges (School of Computer Science, School of Artificial Intelligence, School of Software, Aberdeen School of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence, School of Data Science and Engineering, and School of Electronics and Information Engineering) took part in the practice competition (Networking Track, Cloud Track, Computing Track, and Ascend AI Track), and more than 60 students took part in the innovation competition.
This year's competition is the 8th Huawei ICT Competition, guided by the Computer Education Research Association of Chinese Universities and organized by Huawei Technologies. Its purpose is to create an international competition and exchange platform for college students around the world, enhance their ICT knowledge and practical skills, and cultivate their innovative and creative abilities to use new technologies and platforms, thus promoting the scientific and technological development of mankind, and contributing to the global digital inclusion. More than 100,000 specialized students, undergraduates and postgraduates from more than 1,000 colleges and universities across the country participated in the competition.
