The opening ceremony of the collaborative course project between South China Normal University (SCNU) and Lingnan University on the MA program in China and Regional Studies was held on March 11 at the International Business College at the Nanhai campus in Foshan. This marks a solid step forward in the cooperation between the two sides in the field of higher education.

Zhen ZHANG, Vice Dean of the Graduate School of SCNU, extended a warm welcome to teachers and students from Lingnan University. He introduced the history and current development of graduate education at SCNU, emphasizing the significance of international graduate education. He expects diverse cooperation between the two universities in the future, which may also contribute to SCNU improving its disciplines and personnel training.

Liling SHEN, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of SCNU, reviewed the efforts made by both universities in the integration of education within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA) and emphasized the importance of establishing a coordinated higher education development system in the GBA. She encouraged the exchange students to learn about the education system and cultural traditions in the Chinese mainland, experience the academic atmosphere and campus culture of SCNU, and interact more with teachers and students for mutual understanding and friendship.
Liling SHEN, Deputy Director of the Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Affairs Office of SCNU, made a speech.
Tsing LAU, Associate Director of School of Graduate Studies of Lingnan University, expressed her gratitude for the reception and arrangements by SCNU and introduced the graduate training mode of Lingnan University in detail. She looks forward to the future cooperation between the two universities, which can give full play to both sides' advantages and improve the cooperation to reach new heights.

Jianli WU, Dean of the International Business College (IBC) of SCNU, congratulated both sides on the launch of this project. She emphasized that since its establishment, the IBC has been focused on the innovation of personnel training and building a bridge for students to get an international education, and it will do its best in carrying out this project. She hopes that the exchange students can gain individual growth and make progress together with the teachers and students of SCNU.

You Jie, a student of Lingnan University, also gave a speech on behalf of the exchange students. She recalled her study experience at Lingnan University during the last semester, expressed her expectations for the next three weeks at SCNU, and thanked the two universities for providing this valuable opportunity for the exchange students.
The opening ceremony was chaired by Zhang Yihua, Party secretary of the the International Business College. Administrators of both sides and 20 student representatives from Lingnan University were present. To further students' understanding of histories and cultures of SCNU, student representatives from Lingnan University were presented with SCNU's cultural and creative souvenirs at the end of the ceremony.
