From March 5 to 9, SCNU's delegation, led by Yang Zhongmin, president of SCNU, visited Hong Kong and Macao for educational exchange and further cooperation.
The delegation visited the Liaison Office of the Central People's Government in the Hong Kong SAR, the Hong Kong Education Bureau, the Macao Education and Youth Development Bureau, Lingnan University, the University of Macao, the Hong Kong Academy of Finance, the Centro Amador de Estudos Permanentes de Macau, the Hong Kong Federation of Education Workers, and the Tin Ka Ping Foundation. They also participated in the Spring Reception hosted by the Hong Kong Alumni Association and Macao Alumni Association.
Wang Weiming, the Minister of Education, Science and Technology in Hong Kong, and Zhang Zhihua, the Minister of Youth Affairs met with the delegation.
Yang Zhongmin introduced SCNU's cooperation with Hong Kong in teacher education, personnel training and scientific research. Over the years, SCNU has been actively participating in the education and training of Hong Kong teachers. Earlier this year, Hong Kong's first teacher training and exchange base on the Chinese mainland was inaugurated at SCNU. The base provides academic exchange and joint training programs for students from the University of Hong Kong, the Education University of Hong Kong, and Lingnan University, promoting closer integration of education within the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA).
Wang Weiming expects more educational cooperation between SCNU and Hong Kong universities by exploiting its extraordinary edge in education. Zhang Zhihua hopes that in the future, more Hong Kong students who study at SCNU could contribute to science innovation and development in Hong Kong.

At the forum organized by the Education Bureau of Hong Kong, Yang Zhongmin briefed about teacher training, teacher professional development, and teaching materials research, and shared the latest news on Hong Kong's new teacher training. Li Meichang, the Permanent Secretary of the Bureau, said that SCNU and the Education Bureau have made certain achievements which have laid a good foundation for further cooperation. She hopes that SCNU can continue developing the Hong Kong teacher training and exchange base and promote deeper cooperation.

During the exchange meeting organized by the Macao Education and Youth Development Bureau, Yang Zhongmin introduced SCNU's recent development and its participation in training Macau teachers. SCNU has cultivated more than 10,000 talents of various kinds in Macao, and the Macao teachers trained by SCNU once accounted for 70% of local primary and secondary school teachers. Gong Zhiming, the director of the Development Bureau, hopes that SCNU could strengthen cooperation with Macao educational institutions and continue to support Macao's education and teacher development. They also exchanged views on the long-term cooperation mechanism for teacher and principal training and AI+ education.

The delegation discussed topics such as developing undergraduate and postgraduate programs and scientific research cooperation with Lingnan University in Hong Kong. Yang Zhongmin said that SCNU and Lingnan University share the origin of the school history and have cooperated in several student exchange programs and academic exchange. Besides the current Hong Kong and Macao Research Center sub-center at Lingnan University, he expects more cooperation between the two sides in terms of joint training and scientific research. Qin Sizhao, president of Lingnan University, introduced their latest development strategy. He looks forward to broader and deeper cooperation with SCNU, especially in the field of education and technology.

The talk with the University of Macao centered on advancing interaction between members of the "Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao University Alliance" and promoting high-quality development of higher education in the Greater Bay Area. Yang Zhongmin introduced the development strategy, advantageous disciplines and scientific research development of SCNU. He anticipates deeper cooperation between SCNU and the University of Macao in personnel training and scientific research cooperation. Song Yonghua, president of the University of Macao, wishes that the two universities can draw on each other's strengths, jointly promote cooperation in various disciplines, especially in teacher education, and carry out joint training programs for outstanding talents in teacher education.

During this visit to Hong Kong and Macao, Yang Zhongmin and the delegation also participated in the Spring Reception of the Hong Kong Alumni Association and the Macao Alumni Association, exchanging with alumni in Hong Kong and Macao. He hopes that the alumni association can further develop, and link the alumni and their alma maters both in emotional exchanges and in communication for development. To him, it is cheerful to see alumni get better and contribute to the country's development. He said that alumni are always welcome to come back to Guangzhou and visit SCNU.
