He pointed out that in 2023, SCNU strengthened Party leadership in all respects and concerted efforts to forge ahead. In the past year, SCNU persisted with the advancement of the "double first-class" development, emphasized teacher education and successfully organized the 90th anniversary celebration. SCNU's ranking in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings rose by 200 places, which demonstrates the school's improving overall strength and social influence.
Yang said that 2024 will be a crucial year to accelerate the "double first-class" development. SCNU will put more effort into the implementation of the "High-quality Development Project for Hundreds of Counties, Thousands of Towns and Myriads of Villages", optimize the discipline plan, improve the quality of talent cultivation, focus on the preparation of building national key laboratories, and build a regulatory system based on the university's rules and regulations. These measures, as he believed, will help build SCNU into a world-class university.
The concert began with the classic Chinese percussion piece Flying Dragons and Leaping Tigers, followed by Buddha Jumping Wall, Bumper Harvest Worship, One Night in Beijing, Heroes' Song and The Age of the Dragon - the Sun. At the end of the first half, there was an encore song You Are Always the Best in the World. The atmosphere of the concert was lively and audiences were more than satisfied.
In the second half, the orchestra first brought My Chinese Heart, then came to The Phantom of the Opera, I Love You, China, My Motherland, Arirang Folk song, The Torch Festival, Devote Everything to the Party, My Sun, Three Visits to Your House and Ode to the Red Flag. At the end of the concert, the symphony orchestra performed the Thunder and Lightning Polka and the theme from Mission: Impossible.
The 2022 grade undergraduate Wu Jiapei came to the concert with his parents. He was excited and felt lucky to win the tickets for his family so that they could enjoy the live concert. He was deeply impressed by the Phantom of the Opera. "It left me panting for more! It was wonderful to listen to a live concert, for the performances were quite catching and appealing. The conductor Zhang Zhen livened up the crowds with his zestful rendition." He wished for SCNU and everyone to be better in the coming new year.

He and his orchestra members have been practicing strenuously, hoping to cheer everyone up and make all people feel happy through the music, "I hope both the performers and the audience are satisfied (with the show)," Zhang Zhen said with a smile.

Lv Song, a 2020 grade undergraduate of the School of Music, felt excited about being on the stage again after three years. After learning and growing, he has transformed from an inexperienced freshman to the current student leader of the symphony orchestra who can perform on stage the whole night. Lv Song mentioned that to engage the audience in the concert, the orchestra had designed several activities, such as starting with the traditional Chinese percussion music, giving out 2024 Chinese dragon dolls to the audience, and selecting an encore.
