The 2nd Academic Conference of the Marriage and Family Psychology and Counseling Professional Committee of the Chinese Psychological Society, along with the 6th International Conference on Marriage and Family was held in Guangzhou, Guangdong province from November 25 to 26.
The theme of this symposium was "Marriage, Family, Children and Adolescents against the Background of Social Change", with the South China Normal University School of Psychology as one of its sponsors. More than 500 experts, scholars, teachers and students from across the country participated in the symposium.
At the opening ceremony, Luo Yuejia, president-designate of the Council of the Chinese Psychological Association , said that as society changes and the economy grows, the innovative development of mental health issues gets underway. The research on marriage and family, as well as the mental health of children and adolescents, is of great significance.

Yang Zhongmin, vice president of SCNU, stated that under the leadership of Ruan Jingqing, an senior psychologist, a large number of outstanding psychologists have accomplished beneficial scientific research findings in many fields since the 1950s. Psychology at SCNU has been recognized as a "Key National Discipline" . It received an A+ in the Ministry of Education's last two rounds of discipline evaluation and has had a significant impact in the field of psychology both at home and abroad.

It is critical to identify therapeutic approaches and coping strategies to adjust to changing circumstances.

4 topical forums, 26 sub-forums, 57 sub-group reports, and 8 in-session workshops were organized during the symposium. A total of 113 experts and scholars reported during the conference, touching on the frontier of family therapy, prevention and intervention of problem behaviors in children and adolescents, children and adolescents' mental health treatment, and the development of family environments and children and adolescents. In addition, the symposium set up three exhibition reports, each with 26 exhibition boards, displaying academic findings on couple interaction and marital quality, family and youth development.
