A three-member delegation from Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, led by So Wai-man, the principal of the Institute of Professional Education and Knowledge of the Vocational Training Council, visited the College of Teacher Education of SCNU on November 9.
The delegation comprising So Wai-man, the principal, Zhou Riguang, the vice principal, and Chen Binquan, the senior program director, joined the discussion on cooperation with the deans of the SCNU College of Teacher Education.

Wang Hong, dean of the College of Teacher Education, warmly welcomed the delegation and expressed gratitude to the Council for hosting the training programs for the Provincial Hundred and Thousand and Ten-Thousand Talent Project. She acknowledged the achievements that the first study tour for new teachers in Hong Kong had made. Now that the first mainland teacher training base for new teachers in Hong Kong would be located at SCNU, she hoped to take this opportunity to have deeper interaction and cooperation with the Vocational Training Council.

Huang Daoming, vice dean of the College of Teacher Education, introduced the college, its talent training and exchange programs. He noted that as the first college for teacher education in China, the College has been aiming to develop teacher education for both pre-service and in-service teachers in an integrated way. Functioning both in training educational talents and talent management, the College now undertakes several national and provincial training programs, including the Educational Leadership Learning Exchange ("ELLE") program, "the National Cultivation Plan", and the Guangdong Provincial Hundred and Thousand and Ten-Thousand Talent Project. In future cooperation with the Vocational Training Council, Huang hopes for more innovative ways of teacher training in high-end training programs.

So Wai-man expressed gratitude to SCNU for its assistance and contribution to education in Hong Kong and hoped that the Vocational Training Council may enjoy further cooperation with SCNU.

Both sides shared views on further cooperation and expressed their expectation to further cooperate. During the session, they exchanged deliberations on the training programs for headmasters and teachers in primary and middle schools. They also looked forward to a deeper collaboration based on former experiences.
The Hong Kong Vocational Training Council has hosted over 700 training programs for teachers from the Chinese mainland to Hong Kong since 2010. Since 2012, it has been recognized by the Ministry of Science and Technology as an overseas training cooperation institution.
