South China Normal University officially launched a book series on its 90-year history on 2 November. The book launch was held at the library on the Shipai campus, introducing the five-volume series and followed by a symposium themed "Inheritance and Writing of University Culture".
The series of books documents the 90-year history of SCNU from 1933 to 2023 in four volumes, each about a distinct period in SCNU's development history. It describes the university's struggles in Chinese higher education history over the past 90 years. A separate, other volume records 90 important events since the school's foundation in 1933.

Wang Enke, president of SCNU, hosted the launching ceremony. He believed that the series is not only a review and summary of the history and achievements of SCNU, but also an encouragement to all in SCNU to forge ahead on a new journey.

Wang Binwei, secretary of the Party committee of SCNU, expressed high respect and sincere gratitude to those organizations and experts who supported and engaged in the compilation of the series.
He said that SCNU has attached great importance to its history. During the past 90 years, SCNU has been passing on the tradition of teacher education in South China. The university, keeping pace with time and growing in step with the society, has focused on education and helped build a strong country in education. The series showcases SCNU's respect for the school history, by which the spirit of SCNUers can be carried on. Wang expressed his hope that the whole of the SCNU community could contribute their wisdom and strength to building a strong country, thereby rejuvenating the Chinese nation.

Chen Wenhai, director of the University History Culture Research Center, introduced the arduous process of publishing the series. He pointed out that the series is not yet perfect at this time, thus he suggested that the school organizes efforts to continue expanding and researching more aspects of its history.

Yang Meiyan, director of the Editorial Department for History and Culture at People's Publishing House, spoke highly of the university's profound history and brilliant achievements. She extended warm congratulations and best wishes to SCNU for the upcoming 90th-anniversary celebration.

Wang Yan, vice-secretary of the Party committee of SCNU, gave a brief report on the publication. He said that since the Party committee of SCNU attached great importance to the work, the University History Culture Research Center was established to write and edit the series in three years.
