Polina Malahova, a Latvian student at the School of International Culture of SCNU, won 3 gold medals at the 2023 China University Student Martial Arts Taolu Routine Championship.

She won the gold respectively in the Women's Single Weapon (Jianshu) A-Group A, the Women's Other Traditional Quanshu A-Group A, and the Women's Xiangxingquan A-Group A. "I'm quite glad to study at SCNU and get involved in the training of the martial arts team. The teacher standardized my technical movement and scheduled the time for me to practice the Taolu routine. I have my classes in the morning and train in the afternoon, which makes me feel that I'm living my life to the full," she said in an interview after the competition.

Zheng Qi, a Grade 2022 postgraduate of the School of Physical Education and Sports Science, won second place in Group B of Sun Style Tai-Chi. "I appreciate the chance that my coach offered to me, as well as my teammates' encouragement. It was the regular training that helped me get this silver medal. Though I didn't win the gold, I believe that there's still room to grow but it takes time! I will work step by step, and strive to better myself," said Zheng.
