The Global Chinese Conference on Inquiry Learning 2023 (GCCIL-2023) was held at SCNU on August 12 to 14. Hosted by the Chinese Society for Inquiry Learning (CSIL) and organized by SCNU, the conference over 300 scholars and professionals from at home and abroad participated. Additionally, the number of participants and viewers in the on-line streaming audience totaled 7,271 viewers.

Themed on cultivating interdisciplinary innovative ability in the era of Artificial Intelligence (AI), the conference aimed to explore educational innovation in the AI era, which facilitates the integration of academic leading and innovative practice.
Zhang Xuebo, dean of SCNU’s School of Information Technology in Education, presided over the opening ceremony.
Chen Wenhai, vice president of SCNU, was present at the ceremony and delivered a speech. He pointed out that exploring new education modes and methods as well as cultivating talents with creative thinking ability and practical abilities meet the needs of the new era. As SCNU’s 90th anniversary approaches, the conference is of great significance, as highlighted in his speech.
CSIL’s honorary director Li Kedong reviewed the GCCIL’s founding history and looked forward to the conference’s future. Li Yushun, director of CSIL, expressed the same expectations for the conference and emphasized the conference’s potential contribution to cultivating interdisciplinary innovative talents in the AI era, which helps develop global Chinese education careers.
Experts and scholars from home and abroad delivered keynote speeches at the conference, including Professor Zhang Jianwei of the State University of New York, Professor Xiao Xiansheng of the National Taiwan Normal University and Professor Han Xibin of Tsinghua University.

In the sub-forum, activities like scholarly sharing, case study presentations, and special forums were organized. The sharing session covered 10 special issues, the presentation session touched on lesson plan design and case sharing. The special forums drew active participation from famous educators specialising in smart education in Guangdong province.

Since its foundation in 2010, the Global Chinese Conference on Inquiry Learning has been an exchange platform for Chinese teaching talents to explore theoretical study and practical applications in the field of inquiry learning, thereby promoting new teaching modes and methods that are student centered and facilitate education reforms and innovations. GCCIL2023 has been the fourteenth of this conference series and has drawn great attention.
