On July 28, SCNU President Wang Enke led a delegation and attended the opening ceremony of the third PhD program for part-time PhD students in Hong Kong, held at the Hong Kong Financial Services Institute (HKFSI).
The Hong Kong PhD program is SCNU’s first PhD degree program approved and registered outside the Chinese mainland. This year, a total of 15 part-time PhD students were enrolled in psychology and physical education. In addition, this year marks the first traditional opening ceremony since the first program began in June 2021. The joint PhD program can boost educational and cultural cooperation in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Wang Zhongying, president of Hong Kong Financial Services Institute, delivered a welcoming speech on behalf of the institute. She said that both sides had cooperated effectively in the past three years, overcoming the difficulties brought by the epidemic. With the guidance of SCNU’s experts, HKFSI remains committed to its original mission, aiming to enhance communication and reinforce investment to continually improve the standard of education.

Wang Enke, president of SCNU, congratulated the new students and expressed his gratitude for the support from people from all sectors of society in Hong Kong. He noted that it was of particular historical significance to hold the opening ceremony by being present on site in Hong Kong on the eve of SCNU’s 90th anniversary. SCNU is eager to work with HKFSI to improve the program and facilitate the development of exceptional talents to contribute to not only Hong Kong's prosperity and stability, but the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation.

He Xianyou, dean of the School of Psychology, introduced the strengths, the team of tutors and the discipline platform of the School of Psychology. Then, he said that the school would give full support to the PhD students. He hoped that the students would value the learning opportunity, balance the relationship between study on the one hand, and work and family on the other, and complete their studies soon by holding themselves to the requirement of A+ discipline.
