SCNU students won one gold medal and two bronze medals in the 2023 National Badminton Championships, standing out from over 600 competitors from 24 teams in 22 provinces. The championships took place during 8 days in the summer, ending on July 16.
Deng Chenghao, a graduate student of the School of Physical Education and Sports Science, won a gold medal in the mixed doubles final, and bronze in the men’s doubles. "I greatly appreciate the support and encouragement I got from my coach and my partner, as well as the help from the medical professionals and logistical personnel. In each match, I spare no effort to make up for every minute I sweated on the training field."
Zeng Weihan and Yang Xiaoyu, senior students majoring in sports training, won the bronze medal in the mixed doubles final. "This is the first time we played together, and we are really surprised to get this good result! We trusted each other and took up the challenge in the match. Though there were several tight moments, it’s great to see that we finally won the game," said Yang.
