With the play Microworld, the Jing Jing Drama Club, a team from SCNU, won the Outstanding Drama Award at the 21st Golden Hedgehog University Students' Drama Festival on March 26 in Beijing.

Based on the play by Zhao Binghao of the same name, Microworld is a graduation drama adapted by graduates of 2022 and performed by 39 members of the Jingjing Drama Club. Song Baozhen, director of the Drama Institute of the Chinese National Academy of Arts, commented on the play at the awarding ceremony as the judge: "Through dialogues between ants and humans, Microworld weaves together multiple stories about friendship, love, life and death, and is full of reflections on life circumstances."
The play Microworld connected the four stories about "love"by using the dialogues of the main characters Xiaochun and Huai'an as the major storyline. The play mainly tells the story of an ordinary girl, named Xiaochun, who came to the ant world after her death and met an ant called Huai'an. Xiaochun told Huai'an about her past experience of being trapped in a cave, being betrayed by her sisters, and facing the difficult choice made by her mother and the doctor. Through their communication she gains Huai'an's love.
The actress is acting on the stage of the final.
"The play aims to highlight the spiritual dilemma of modern people by contrasting the human world with the world of ants." Tan Feng, the director of the play and graduate of the School of Chinese Language and Literature, later summarized the theme of the play in this way. Tan Feng is aware of the dispirited and aimless living state of modern people, and the fact that some people even experience a lack of emotion under the influence of social development. She aspires for the play to evoke the raw and authentic emotions that individuals are supposed to have and lead to the search for a spiritual pillar again.
"We hope people can be full of vitality and energy," said Tan Feng. She believes that the power of love, which creates a deep and meaningful connection among humans, can transcend even the most difficult spiritual predicaments, just as the numb and dull Xiaochun was touched and moved by Huai'an in the end.
According to Tan Feng, the rehearsal of the play was very difficult because the members were confronted by various challenges such as the incongruous time arrangement, the preparation of props and the availability of the site for rehearsal. Fortunately, the members overcame them with mutual trust and assistance. For members who graduated in 2022, many of them may not have the opportunity to act on stage in the future. Therefore, the award received for the last drama means a successful and fulfilling end not only to their university life but also to their drama career.

The Golden Hedgehog University Students' Drama Festival (formerly the College Students Drama Festival) was first held in 2001. It is a well-recognised drama brand activity hosted by the Beijing Theatre Association and the Beijing Chaoyang District Publicity and Culture Center. It is one of the most influential competitions for college students in China and provides a high-level, widely-participated, free and open platform for college drama lovers to communicate and create.
