The Fourth Forum on Frontiers of Artificial Intelligence and Education Development was held at SCNU on October 30, aiming to explore how AI and education can intersect and be integrated with existing systems. With the theme of "AI empowers education", the forum was hosted by the Guangzhou branch of the China Computer Federation (CCF), and organized by SCNU. It was hosted by the School of Computer Science of SCNU. Scholars, specialists, teachers and students from over 10 universities and several enterprises participated, also on line.
On behalf of SCNU, Professor Jiang Yuncheng, dean of the School of Computer Science and School of Artificial Intelligence of SCNU, extended a warm welcome to participants, introduced the developments of AI and smart education at the School of Computer Science, and wished the forum a complete success. A series of keynote speeches were given by five experts. Then participants had heated and deep discussion on the topics.

Professor Chen Enhong, National Outstanding Youth and executive dean of the School of Data Science of the University of Science and Technology of China, gave a speech on the precise learning theories and methods of smart education. He introduced the latest research in the field and the application of research results in enterprises and industries, for instance at iFLYTEK, a well-known listed company of intelligent voice and AI in the Asia Pacific region.
With the title "Studying Writing Processes in On line-Delivered Writing Assessment", Dr. Tao Gong, senior research scientist of the Educational Testing Service (ETS) and former research scientist at Yale University, introduced the cognitive writing processes and assessment methods, and the writing analysis methods and analysis findings of large-scale American examinations.
Yu He, vice president of the Guangzhou College of Commerce (GCC), focused on the topic of exploration and practice of cultivation of new engineering's talents and shared his views on this topic and the practice experience of GCC with its orientation of a higher vocational college.
Huang Changqin, distinguished professor of the Guangdong Province Universities and Colleges Pearl River Scholar Funded Scheme, gave a speech on the research and practice of classroom teaching evaluation with support of the new generation of AI technology. He analyzed the multi-dimensional evaluation indicators and diversified core technology of classroom teaching, and introduced a systematic framework and application practice of deep integration between AI and classroom teaching evaluation.
Professor Jin Lianwen of South China University of Technology presented a speech with the theme of "Optical Character Recognition (OCR) in deep learning times: from data-driven to knowledge-driven".
At the end of forum, Tang Yong, the director of CCF and professor of the School of Computer Science of SCNU, gave a summary of the forum and expressed gratitude to all the guests and organizers of the event.

The forum was first advocated by Professor Tang Yong of SCNU in 2018. Hosted by the Guangzhou branch of the China Computer Federation, this forum has been held successfully for four sessions so far, becoming the brand activity of CCF Guangzhou.
