All 24 projects that SCNU submitted for the Special Fund for Science and Technology Innovation Strategy of Guangdong province have been approved and funded for a total of 645 thousand yuan, setting a new record high in the amount of funding.
Among the 24 projects, 9 of them are key projects and 15 of them are general projects. Since the program was launched in 2015, a total of 193 projects of SCNU, including 53 key projects, were funded and SCNU obtained a total of 4.4 million yuan in funding.
The funded projects of SCNU have achieved fruitful results. A total of 64 projects have successfully applied for patents and a total of 196 papers concerning the projects have been published, 116 of which were included in Science Citation Index.
At the same time, SCNU actively promotes the application of science and technology innovation projects, which effectively promotes the integration of creativity, innovation and entrepreneurship. For example, 35 funded teams took part in the “Challenge Cup” Extracurricular Academic Science and Technology Contest for National College Students and the “Challenge Cup” Entrepreneurship Competition for Guangdong College Students and won prizes.
Set up jointly by Guangdong Communist Youth League Committee and Department of Finance of Guangdong province, the Special Fund for Science and Technology Innovation Strategy of Guangdong province (also referred to as the “Climbing Plan”) is a special fund allocated by the People’s Government of Guangdong province. It aims to select, cultivate and subsidize technology innovation teams of college students to carry out pioneering and groundbreaking research.
Projects are awarded in three categories, namely scientific inventions, academic theses in natural sciences and survey reports, and academic theses in philosophy and social sciences, according to the program announcements.
In recent years, SCNU has held various academic forums and academic exchange activities, which created a strong atmosphere of science and innovation on the campus, aroused students’ enthusiasm for science and technology innovation and led them set lofty ideals of serving the country by innovation and devote to the practice of science and technology innovation.
