The Third Forum on Frontiers of Artificial Intelligence and Education Development was held at the School of Computer Science of SCNU on December 19, with its theme on how AI empowers education.
Hosted by Guangzhou Chapter of the China Computer Federation (CCF) and held on the campus of SCNU, the forum offered a platform for renowned specialists and scholars in China to share the latest interdisciplinary research and applications of AI in the field of education science. Issues such as the intersection of AI, big data and education, as well as the application of technology integration were also discussed.
On behalf of SCNU, Xiao Jing, vice dean of the School of Computer Science, delivered an opening speech. She described the work and studies at the School of Computer Science, as well as its developments in the area of AI algorithms, knowledge graphs and smart education.

Professor Tang Yong of the School of Computer Science, and CCF director, addressed the audience about the forum’s theme, the latest national policies and frontier progress in the academic field of AI education integration. He pointed out that the prospects for “AI plus Education” are great, expecting more enterprises to deepen their cooperation with universities and colleges in the future.

Later, a series of keynote speeches were given by five experts, covering topics on smart education driven by educational big data, AI-empowered individualized education, integrated learning theory and its application in smart education, computational and neural mechanisms of learning, and Huawei’s Kunpeng computing platforms and motherboards. Participants had heated discussion and exchanged their views on the topics.

More than 160 scholars, specialists, teachers and students from over 10 universities and several enterprises such as Tencent participated. The universities included Sun Yat-Sen University, South China University of Technology (SCUT), Jinan University, South China Agricultural University (SCAU) and SCNU, among others.

The forum was first advocated by professor Tang Yong of SCNU in 2018. Hosted by CCF (Guangzhou), this forum has been held successfully for three sessions so far, gradually becoming the brand activity of CCF (Guangzhou).
