The closing ceremony of the military training at SCNU was held at the Shipai, University Town and Nanhai campuses on September 23 and 24, during which students displayed all the lessons they have learned, such as marching, military boxing and anti-terrorist shooting.
The highlight of the ceremony was the performance of changing formation. To pay tribute to the CPC centenary and celebrate the upcoming national day, a formation of some 550 freshmen on the University Town campus created the image of the Party emblem and different Chinese characters, making the audiences gasp in amazement.
The formation formed the Party emblem that consists of a sickle and a hammer.
The formation showed the image of Chinese characters "社会主义", meaning socialism, and the image of Chinese characters “改革开放", meaning "Reform and Opening-up". Since China began its economic reform and opening-up in 1978, the CPC has been continuing to adapt the basic principles of socialism with Chinese characteristics.
The formation showed the image of Chinese characters “新时代”, meaning "New Era" that marked a new stage of development of Chinese socialism.
The formation changed into characters of “伟大复兴”, meaning “great rejuvenation”, which caters to the everlasting goal of Chinese nation.
The formation formed up in the letters saying “I Love SCNU”.
Military education is a compulsory duty for Chinese university students. It is considered an opportunity for the students to discipline their will, toughen their bodies, as well as learn some basic military skills.
