The Information Engineering major of SCNU gained IEET international accreditation, according to a letter from the Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan recently.
The accreditation proves that the talents training program of Information Engineering has reached the standard set by the Washington Accord. It also shows that the quality of engineering education at SCNU meets international standards and shows that the quality assurance system has gained international approval, which in turn assures the recognition of the engineering degree of SCNU among members of the Washington Accord.
The accreditation process of the engineering major was officially launched on December, 2018, and lasted for over two years. During this period, great efforts have been made in the development of the teaching objectives and core competence, design of curriculum system, reform of talent training patterns and improvement of education management system in a student-centered and result-oriented principle for this major.
Due to the coronavirus epidemic, an on-line evaluation was held on October 19-20 , 2020, when the expert group of the IEET accreditation council inspected the teaching facilities, laboratories, books and equipment through a video link. Positive feedback on the current development of Information Engineering was given by means of a thorough and systematic evaluation.
The Institute of Engineering Education Taiwan (IEET) was founded in 2003, and became an official member of the Washington Accord, an accord for International Engineering education accreditation, in 2007. It mainly plans and executes accreditation that meets international standard for EAC, CAC, TAC, AAC and DAC.
