According to the Announcement of the Provincial Teaching Achievement Award in 2019, published by the Department of Education of Guangdong province, SCNU was honored with 21 teaching awards, 13 awards in the field of higher education, ranking third in Guangdong province, second only to Sun Yat-sen University.

SCNU held on to the top position in the number of awards in higher education for three consecutive years. All the teaching awards that SCNU competed for in the field of basic education were achieved, including 1 special prize, 6 first prizes and 1 second prize. SCNU also ranked first in the number of prizes won overall. These achievements not only embody the considerable success SCNU has made though teaching and learning reform and practice, but also reflect the widespread reputation of our university.

The awards attained involve a wide range of aspects including higher education and basic education, reforms in both full-time undergraduate education and continuing education, teaching achievements not only in first-rate disciplines such as physics and psychology, but also in provincial key disciplines such as English language and literature.

At the previous competition, psychology had already made great progress in winning awards in both higher education and basic education, while at this contest we achieved favourable results in even more disciplines such as physics, education technology, pedagogy and English language and literature. These successes represent the leading role we have played in the reform and practice of basic education in Guangdong province, emphasizing our support for innovative reform in teacher education.

The awards obtained struck home at several focus points of the higher education reforms, including “Double first-class” development, “higher-level lesson” development, innovative reforms in teacher education, excellent teacher training programs, and integration of production and education, demonstrating the benefits SCNU achieved through emphasizing the spirit and demands of the Department of Education.

To propel the education reforms further, the educational achievements will be cultivated according to the “Six Excellences and One Tip-top” plan 2.0, covering more extensive disciplines. Our university will persistently implement teaching innovations, develop top-ranking undergraduate education, strengthen featured majors, launch high-level courses, foster excellent teachers, guarantee the university quality and train high-quality talents, looking forward to achieving further new triumphs.

Aiming at mobilizing the creativity and enthusiasm of the teachers, improving reforms in education research and practice and inspiring the attainment of exemplary teaching performance with promotional value, the Guangdong Provincial Teaching Achievement Award will decorate those groups and individuals who have made distinguished contributions and achieved remarkable results in education and teaching.
