On the evening of October 27, the 2019 welcoming get-together for minorities was held at the Faculty Club of South China Normal University (SCNU). With the theme of "Hello, SCNU", a diversity of shows was performed, featuring unique folk culture.

The evening began with “Girls under Muztagh Ata.” Folk dance “Grand Ceremony” and songs such as “The Distance of Time”, “Loving You” and “The Normal Road” were touching, while modern dances like “Move as Youths”, “The Song of Sapana” and “The Charm of Jazz” inspired vitality. Moreover, the poem “Romantic China with Nationalities” and the song “Me and My Country” sung by all the performers ignited everyone’s passion. They waved the national flags in their hands, extending wishes to the motherland and singing. In the end, all the teachers and the students danced on the melody of folk music.
The event welcomed more than three hundred people including administrators of colleges and students belonging to different minorities. All told how a minority came to Lingnan region, chased his dream and finally made Guangdong their home.
The shows were performed by the “Pomegranate Seed” art troupe, 134 performers of 12 ethnic minorities and 8 colleges. When interviewed, Chen Haodong, a student, said, “I am so glad to know so many students of different minorities. I experienced various minority cultures tonight and I could tell that they are full of enthusiasm for the college life.”
