The national finals of the "China Collegiate Computing Contest—WeChat Mini-Program Development Competition" were held on the University Town campus of South China University of Technology on August 15-16.
SCNU participated in the competition with a total of 32 teams; Twenty-one teams from the School of Software, eight teams from the School of Computer Sciences, two teams from the School of Information Technology in Education, and one team from the School of Physics and Telecommunications Engineering. Teams of SCNU won awards both in the southern China regional competition and the national finals, including two national second prizes and 11 national third prizes.
The 2019 National WeChat Mini-Program Development Competition commenced on March 5, with 30 teams competing in the area of the development of mini-programs and 20 teams in the development of mini-game programs eventually advancing to the national finals. For SCNU, one of the teams from the School of Software entered the national finals of the WeChat mini-program development, while one of the teams from the School of Computer Sciences entered the finals in the area of WeChat mini-game program development. The national first prize and second prize were decided in the finals.
Divided into eight divisions, namely, northeastern China division, northern China division, eastern China division, central China division, northwestern China division, southwestern China division, southern China division, and the overseas division, the competition has attracted 5,667 teams consisting of 15,853 students. 1,960 students in 670 teams signed up in the area of development of mini-game programs, while 13893 students in 5007 teams participated in the area of development of mini-programs.
Based on the Tencent WeChat mini-program platform, the 2019 National WeChat Mini-Program Development Competition is an innovative application development and design competition co-sponsored by Tsinghua University, the Communication University of China and the Tencent WeChat business group. The competition is open to college students from all over the world, aiming to improve the design and development ability of college students in the area of WeChat mini-program development, especially their ability to creatively design and practice innovation by using the proprietary technology of the WeChat environment.
SCNU has always attached great importance to the innovative education of students. By participating in the 2019 National WeChat Mini-Program Development Competition, SCNU has strengthened student team's sense of collaboration, innovative ability, market awareness and comprehensive quality training, stimulating students' creative enthusiasm, and promoting the spirit of innovation.
