The Guangdong Aesthetic Education Exchange Meeting was held at the University Town campus of South China Normal University (SCNU) on June 14. With a series of activities held, this event attracted over 320 representatives including leaders from the Education Department, Department of Culture and Tourism, etc., in charge of aesthetic work in respective units as well as scholars and experts specialized in aesthetic education from 134 colleges and universities throughout Guangdong province.

A tour of the first batch of Outstanding Chinese Traditional Culture Heritage Bases in Guangdong province was arranged in the morning, with visits to the Cantonese Opera Museum, the Cantonese-opera Culture Heritage Base, and 10 workshops at various universities in Guangdong province.

Apart from a visit to these cultural heritage sites, a spectacular performance of outstanding Chinese traditional culture heritage was also held during the event, which covered nine programs of excellent Chinese traditional culture by seven colleges and universities. Among them, the Lingnan Lion Dance, Seaside Coconut Groove and Wangdu (the latter two featuring Li and Yao ethnic group culture) were performed by students from SCNU, drawing a warm applause from the audience for originality and visual effects.

Besides, speakers from SCNU, Sun Yat-sen University, the Guangdong University of Technology, the Xinghai Conservatory of Music, Guangdong Teachers College of Foreign Language and Arts, and Shunde Polytechnic gave keynote speeches on the development of aesthetic education at their universities, respectively.
