The 10th University Games of Guangdong Province has entered the stage of comprehensive competitions. After several days of matches, the SCNU delegation has made various achievements. The women's volleyball team won the second place in the women's group B and the men's table tennis team won the gold medal.
The volleyball match (women's group B) of the 10th Guangdong University Games ended at the Yingdong Gymnasium of Sun Yat-sen University on May 12. Team leader Chen Qiaonian and coach Guo Rong led the women's volleyball team to a victory seizing the second place in the women's group B. After the match, Zeng Shengchang, deputy head of the delegation and secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Physical Education & Sports Science, presented prizes to the women volleyball players.
The women's volleyball team won the match with a 2-1 victory over its strong opponent from Guangzhou Sports University (GSB). Through several rounds, the SCNU volleyball team advanced from the group as the number one. Then in the semifinals, South China Normal University displaced Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine with a 3-0 win to reach the finals. During the endgame, SCNU players faced off against GSB counterparts again and unfortunately lost the first two sets by a narrow margin. After a quick adjustment of mentality and technique, SCNU players took the lead in the opening of the third round and clawed back a set. Finally, after four exciting and fierce sets, the SCNU women’s volleyball team lost to its rival 1-3. Both sides showed great volleyball playing skills to make this competition exciting and wonderful, causing the audience holloring with cheers.
SCNU players fought hard and performed their own level well in the competition, advocated the spirit of SCNU women’s volleyball team. After the matchcoach Guo Rong said “I want to show respect to all the players in the women's volleyball team who have carried forward the spirit of courage and tenacity during the competitions to earn credit for SCNU. They have played their level out, showed respect to their rivals with confidence and worked together to move forward. All these efforts our players have paid fully demonstrated the elegant demeanour of SCNU women's volleyball players.”

Table tennis match of the 10th University Games of Guangdong Province was held in the South China University of Technology in College Town on May 13. Led by team leader Chen Xiangguang, and coaches Wang Liang and Cao Xinni, the SCNU table tennis team won the men's team championship of division 2A, which was the first gold medal of the delegation. Meanwhile, players in division 2B won the men's team bronze medal.
Players in division 2B won the men's team bronze medal.
The SCNU men's table tennis team (division 2A) experienced intense competion from the teams of Zhuhai College, Jilin University, the Guangdong University of Education, Hanshan Normal University, the Guangzhou Sports University and the Guangdong Vocational Institute of Sports. SCNU players clinched the gold with a dominating victory of 3-0, 3-1, 3-0, 3-1, 3-2 in five matches.
The most fierce competition was the final closing match between South China Normal University and the Guangdong Vocational Institute of Sports. With high-quality counterattacks such as penhold, shakehand, smash, spinning, loop drive and so on, the players on both sides presented an extremefiercely fierce competition. After an hour and a half of excitement, the SCNU men's table tennis team eventually pocketed the final victory.
The SCNU table tennis team won the men's team championship of division 2A.
