On December 29, 2018, the first International Center for Intelligent Education Technology Innovationin the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area was officially unveiled in Panyu Energy-saving Science Park. The Center was jointly built by SCNU and three enterprises in Guangzhou focusing on intelligent education, big data and chip technology, namely, CreateView Optoelectronics, DAYANG and Huachuang Chip, respectively.
Huang Muxiong, dean of the School of Information Technology in Education, briefed on the preparations for the establishment of the International Center for Intelligent Educational Technology Innovation of Huachuang Chip. He also said that Huachuang Chip would adhere to serving the intelligent education industry in Guangzhou, the regional informatization in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area and the national innovation-driven development strategy.
Wu Jian, vice-president of South China Normal University, proposed that Huachuang Chip will focus on building an international intelligent educational technology innovation center, based in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, serving the whole country and radiating the world. The expertise of the Center jointly relies on the long-term accumulation and fruitful research results of the national key disciplines in educational technology and informatization of South China Normal University. Furthermore the Center will benefit from the synergistic innovation system formed by the strategic alliance of these four partners leading the technological innovation in China's educational informatization industry, actively promote the development of education informatization in the new era, and foster a new engine of innovation-driven development.
At the ceremony, executive vice president of the Chinese Industry-University-Research Institute Collaboration Association（CIUR）Chen Xiaoya and executive vice president of the Chinese Association for Educational Technology (CAET), together with eight other guests oficially opened the Center.
It is understood that the focus of fundamental research at the International Center for Intelligent Educational Technology Innovation will include educational theory, cognitive science and neuroscience, model algorithms, platform frameworks and implementation methods. Its technology innovation field will cover new displays, the Internet-of-Things chips, cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence, industrial Internet-of-Things and intelligent manufacturing, integrated media, human-computer interaction, etc.. Under the leadership of the strategic alliance of technological innovation in China's education information industry, the Center has invested more than 50 million yuan in the first phase, focusing on new displays, the Internet-of-Things chips, cloud computing, integrated media and other fields of scientific research and application.
Huachuang Chip is a new form of close cooperation between SCNU and enterprises. The School of Information Technology in Education of SCNU will assemble a team of experts to participate in the program. Existing and future research achievements of the school will also be transformed into products through this platform. In the future, Huachuang Chip will strive to develop into an important domestic and international first-class base for research into intelligent learning theory, research and development of technology and products, demonstration of applied research and cultivation of innovative talents. The goal of Huachuang Chip is to become the foremost science and technology innovation center in the field of educational informatization in Guangzhou, Guangdong Province and even the whole country.
