The Fifth International Cultural Festival of SCNU officially kicked off on the occasion of SCNU's 85th anniversary. Cultural booths of 22 countries were set up and 835 international students from 82 countries participated in the festival. Dressed in ethnic costumes, the overseas students sang and danced together to celebrate the birthday of SCNU presenting a cultural feast for teachers, students and alumni.
The showcased countries included Indonesia, Thailand, and other southeast Asian countries, African, European countries and countries in the Middle East. Foreign students not only performed in exotic song and dance, but also brought the unique cuisine of their countries to the fore so Chinese and foreign friends could experience a "Bite of the World".
The song and dance performances were wonderful. Particularly memorable were a song sung in Chinese by student from Tajikistan, a Vietnamese fan dance, the African wakanda dance, among others presenting a harmonious gathering and integration of cultures. In short interviews participating foreign students all expressed their love for SCNU and told us about their elaborate preparations for the event. The International Cultural Festival provided a platform for people at SCNU to know about foreign cultures.
