On October 26, President Wang Enke went to Macao to attend the First Forum of the Rectors of the Higher Education Institutions in China and Portuguese-speaking Countries under the common theme of the "Belt and Road initiative". Wang Enke sketched the overall situation and international development of SCNU, the original connection and deepening development as well as future planning of cooperation with Macao, and expounded the role of the "Belt and Road" initiative in Sino-Portuguese education cooperation. Wang Enke mentioned that China and Portugal could agree on the overall layout of bilateral and multilateral "Belt and Road Initiative" educational cooperation and exchange, strengthen the development of China's education and training centers and educational aid bases, and various other types of educational and training institutions such as universities, which could play a great role in training teachers, scholars and skilled talents for Portuguese-speaking countries, promoting countries around the world to form a cooperative mechanism to achieve the goal of world education development. Wang Enke's speech found strong resonance among the guests at the forum.
The forum of presidents of universities in China and Portuguese-speaking countries was co-sponsored by the higher education assistant office of the government of the Macao Special Administrative Region, Macao University and St. Joseph's University in Macao attracting representatives from more than 70 universities and institutions of higher education from mainland China, Hong Kong and Macao and other Portuguese-speaking countries. They gathered together to discuss the prospect and opportunities of higher education under the Belt and Road Initiative.
