South China Normal University (SCNU) held the 2026 summer inbound exchange programmes at the International Business College on 22 June.

Forty-eight teachers and students from the US, Latvia and French Réunion gathered at the university’s Foshan Campus in Nanhai for the scheme, which explores Chinese culture, Lingnan heritage and the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). SCNU officials attended the opening ceremony.

Run by the International Business College, the programmes feature customised tracks for two groups.

Delegates from the Confucius Institutes at the University of Latvia and Réunion are on the Chinese Bridge programme, with language classes, intangible cultural heritage workshops and field trips to build Chinese proficiency and cultural awareness.

A US group from New York’s West Orange High School is taking part in the YES (Young Envoys Scholarship) Youth Exchange, with lectures, company visits and cultural activities across Guangzhou and Foshan, plus a Hong Kong study tour to experience the GBA’s integrated one-hour living circle.

The Foshan Campus, a core hub for SCNU’s internationalisation and GBA engagement, has expanded immersive international programmes under its “New Engineering, New Business, Global Outlook” strategy. This summer scheme draws on its geographic, academic and cultural strengths to connect global youth with China and the bay area.

Since 2014, SCNU has hosted 20 online and in-person Chinese Bridge camps, welcoming almost 1,100 participants. It will continue developing Lingnan and GBA-focused inbound programmes to support high-level educational openness and international youth exchange.
