South China Normal University (SCNU) vice president Wang Chunchao, together with representatives from three Confucius Institutes jointly established by SCNU, was invited to attend the 2025 World Chinese Language Conference from November 14 to 16. The participation showcased SCNU's contributions and influence in the field of international Chinese language education.
This year, both SCNU and the Coquitlam Confucius Institute in Canada were honored with the "2025 Outstanding Test Center" award for the Certificate for Teachers of Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages, demonstrating their outstanding effectiveness in promoting the high-quality development of international Chinese language education.

During the special conference and work meetings on the "Inheritance and Development of Confucius Institutes: Stepping into the Next 20 Years", Wang Chunchao and representatives from the three Confucius Institutes discussed future initiatives to advance "Chinese + Teacher Education" programs and promote innovative development of international Chinese education empowered by artificial intelligence.
SCNU has co-established three Confucius Institutes and 14 Confucius Classrooms with the Coquitlam School District in British Columbia, Canada, the University of La Réunion, France, and the University of Latvia. These three institutes have built solid foundations and achieved remarkable results in promoting Chinese language and culture.
Moving forward, South China Normal University will continue to enhance the development of its Confucius Institutes, promoting the localization, digitalization and professionalization of Chinese language education to contribute to building a global community with a shared future for mankind.
As one of the largest global events in the field of Chinese language education, the conference attracted around 2,000 participants from more than 160 countries and regions. The conference, themed "Innovation Leads, Artificial Intelligence Empowers: Zero Barriers in Chinese Learning", was hosted by the Ministry of Education of the People's Republic of China.
