The China-Vietnam Training Program on Innovative Practices in Basic Education concluded at the Shipai campus of South China Normal University on November 9.
Lasting for three days, the program featured diverse activities including special lectures, campus visits, practical experience sharing sessions, and workshops, in which over 30 key administrators and outstanding teachers from Vietnam participated.
During the lecture series, trainees explored a range of topics such as "AI-Powered Education" and "Theory and Practice of the Platform 'Smart Education of China' Empowering Teaching Reform" and gained exposure to the latest developments in digital education, which helped deepen their understanding of the digital transformation of education.

Besides, participants visited the Foshan campus of SCNU and the Guangdong Experimental High School. They had in-depth discussions on topics such as study-in-China programs and international cooperative education with representatives from the Foshan Campus Management Committee, the International Business College and the Aberdeen Institute at the Foshan campus. During the visit to the middle school, they also learnt about the school’s achievements in students' training, development of campus culture, as well as arts and sports education.

In the sharing sessions, attendees took part in the China-Vietnam workshop on Digital Teaching Practices and the Greater Bay Area AI Education Exhibition. Through dialogue with experts across fields, they systematically acquired relevant theoretical knowledge in digital transformation of basic education and gained practical know-how.

Nguyen Duc Ho, Advisor to the Board of Directors of the Vietnam Secondary School of Green Governance and Digital Engagement and also one of the participants, said he was impressed by China's strategic vision in building smart education. Through the training, he saw how AI has now been deeply integrated into the teaching process, from AI camera systems that analyze student and teacher behavior to intelligent handwriting recognition, and to real-time data analysis using large LED displays and powerful servers.

The training program exemplifies the practical cooperation in education between China and Vietnam, Ke Qingchao, dean of the School of Information Technology in Education, said at the closing ceremony of the training.
As the only institution in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area selected among the first batch of members of the Global Teacher Development College under the Ministry of Education, and the Chinese leading unit of the Basic Education Working Group of the China-ASEAN Digital Education Alliance, SCNU will continue to build a long-term exchange platform with Vietnam and jointly conduct more in-depth cooperation in areas such as curriculum development and research collaboration in the future.
