The opening ceremony for the China-Vietnam Training Program on Innovative Practices in Basic Education was held at the Shipai campus of South China Normal University on November 5.
Directed by the Global Teacher Development College and the China-ASEAN Digital Education Alliance, and jointly organized by SCNU and Hanoi University, the program is a key move by the two sides to act on the strategic consensus between China and Vietnam and to jointly advance digital education and teacher education.

The China-Vietnam Training Program on Innovative Practices in Basic Education started at SCNU on November 5.
Themed on "Innovation in Digital Basic Education and Enhancement of School Governance Capacity”, the event attracted over 30 key administrators and outstanding teachers from Vietnamese higher education institutions, research organizations, as well as from the basic education system.

Zheng Dawei, counselor from the Center for Educational Technology and Resource Development of the Chinese Ministry of Education, emphasises long and friendly relations between China and Vietnam.
Zheng Dawei, counselor from the Center for Educational Technology and Resource Development of the Chinese Ministry of Education, highlighted that both China and Vietnam are socialist, friendly neighboring countries, and Guangzhou has a profound historical revolutionary connection with nearby Vietnam. Throughout the years progress has been made in digital education cooperation between SCNU and Hanoi University.
He further pointed out that educational digital transformation is a key area of concern for both countries, and hopes both sides continue to deepen their collaboration to make strides with new contributions to the development of education in China and Vietnam.

Fan Xianrui, vice president of the Open University of China, and the secretary-general of the China-ASEAN Digital Education Alliance addressed the opening ceremony through a video speech. As the Chinese leading unit of the Alliance's Basic Education Working Group, South China Normal University plays a central role in promoting regional exchange, cooperation, and innovation in basic education.
The joint program between SCNU and Hanoi University is the first landmark project since Vietnam joined the Alliance; hopefully it will open a new chapter in the development of the Alliance, with aim to establish a long-term cooperation mechanism for the digital transformation of basic education, Fan said.

Chen Xiaofang, deputy secretary of the CPC SCNU Committee, highlights SCNU's educational achievements and internationalization strategy.
Speaking on behalf of South China Normal University, Chen Xiaofang, deputy secretary of the CPC SCNU Committee, introduced the university’s educational achievements and internationalization strategy to participating guests. As the year 2025 marks the 75th anniversary of China-Vietnam diplomatic relations and the "Year of People-to-People Exchange", he pointed out that educational collaboration between the two countries has entered a new era characterized by "digital empowerment and collaborative innovation."
SCNU attaches great importance to educational cooperation with Southeast Asian countries and focuses on basic education reform and development for a long term. It is expected that this program will inject new vitality into Vietnam's basic education sector, he added.

Vice president of Hanoi University Luong Ngoc Minh, representing the Vietnamese delegation, expressed gratitude for the organization of the training program and briefly introduced Hanoi University's development. He said this training program is significant for deepening China-Vietnam digital education exchange, and educators look forward to sharing practical experiences with Chinese counterparts so as to enhance mutual learning and jointly promote educational innovation.
