The 2025 “Chinese Bridge” Summer Camp concluded at SCNU, bringing together 33 students from the Confucius Institute at the University of Latvia and the University of La Réunion (France) for a two-week cultural journey across Guangzhou and Beijing.
Hosted by the Center for Language Education and Cooperation (CLEC), an organization affiliated with the Chinese Ministry of Education and organized by the Office of International Exchange & Cooperation and School of International Culture of SCNU, the program aims to offer opportunities for language learning, cultural immersive experience, and cross-cultural experience exchange.

In Guangzhou, the participants delved into hanzi (Chinese characters) handwriting, tried Peking Opera facial makeup themselves, and experienced the essence of Chinese kung fu. These featured courses allowed participants to indulge in the unique charm of Chinese culture while improving their Chinese. During the practice course on weekends, they walked the streets and alleys of Guangzhou, appreciating the incredible mixture of traditional blocks carrying Lingnan (South China) style and clusters of modern buildings showcasing the rapid and dynamic development of China, especially the Greater Bay Area. They also savored authentic Lingnan culture through Guangdong dim sum.

The participants then started their trip in Beijing by visiting world cultural heritage sites, including the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and the Summer Palace, gaining insight into Chinese history and culture. A visit to the Chinese cultural experience center at CLEC offered the participants a profound first-hand experience through virtual reality, digitalized display, and other interaction devices, allowing them to experience traditional Chinese culture such as calligraphy, painting, folk music, and martial arts, transcending time and space.

Looking ahead, SCNU will continue to advance international exchange and education for international students, fostering a cross-cultural educational exchange platform.
