On July 9, SCNU received a delegation of the Research Management Committee (RMC) and the Civil Service College Uganda. Discussions focused on exploring new ways of collaboration in public administration.
Vice president of SCNU Wang Chunchao introduced the university's educational philosophy and achievements in his welcome speech. He commended the Research Management Committee and the Civil Service College Uganda's significant contributions to Uganda's civil service capacity development and policy research, while noting SCNU's successful experience in conducting various cadre training programs that have enhanced local governance capabilities. He hoped that both sides would combine their respective strengths in public governance and establish new cooperation starting with civil service training and policy advisory services.
Mr. Robert Ngobi Kivanka, head of the Ugandan delegation, spoke highly of our university's academic excellence in public administration education. "We are keen to learn from China's advanced experience to improve our civil service training system," he remarked, expressing strong interest in exploring innovative approaches through deeper collaboration.
Alumnus and Chairman of Guangdong Shinergy Power Equipment Group Hou Jianxiong shared Guangdong enterprises' success stories in Africa and proposed potential China-Uganda partnership opportunities. Yang Aiping, dean of the School of Politics and Public Administration, also briefed the guests on the school's disciplinary strengths, distinguished faculty, research platforms, and professional training programs.
The discussions yielded productive results on talent development strategies, training system optimization, and joint research initiatives in public administration. After the meeting, the delegation toured the school's facilities to observe its distinctive educational approaches and research outputs firsthand.
As an active participant in China's Belt and Road Initiative, SCNU regards this visit as a strategic opportunity to strengthen institutional ties with Ugandan partners. Both sides are committed to advancing substantive cooperation in public service talent cultivation and governance research, contributing to the high-quality development of Belt and Road cooperation.
