South China Normal University and the National University of Timor-Leste (UNTL) recently signed an agreement to jointly establish laboratory during their visit to SCNU. The event marked a significant step in deepening educational and scientific collaboration between the two universities.
The agreement was concluded at the Belt and Road Cooperation and Development Seminar on Optical Science and Smart Education, which was hosted by SCNU on February 4. During the meeting, the two sides exchanged in-depth views about shared research platforms, academic exchanges, and postgraduate training concerning disciplines like optical science, smart education and agricultural science.

Yang Zhongmin, president of SCNU, said SCNU has favorable conditions for building cooperation with the National University of Timor-Leste given the university's achievements as a "Double First-Class" institution and its commitment to international partnerships. He hoped that the collaboration between SCNU and UNTL would serve as a model for educational cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative, further strengthening bilateral ties.

The delegation of UNTL also visited the SCNU History Museum and key research facilities, including the Key Laboratory of Atomic and Subatomic Structure and Quantum Control and the Laboratory of Condensed Matter Physics of the School of Physics, the Laboratory of Electronic Paper Displays of the South China Academy of Advanced Optoelectronics, and other laboratories at the College of Biophotonics and the School of Life Sciences.
