A delegation from the University of Queensland, Australia, visited South China Normal University on 6 December for in-depth discussions on collaboration in various academic areas.
Professor Joseph Grotowski, dean of the School of Mathematics and Physics of the University of Queensland, and Ms Li Lu, International Programme Manager, met with Li Jinkai, dean of the School of Mathematical Sciences of SCNU. Li Jinkai expressed his wish to explore avenues of co-operation with the University of Queensland in the areas of talent training and research cooperation. The two sides discussed a 3+2 undergraduate and master's degree programme, and hoped to carry out joint training and scientific research.
The delegation held talks with Professor Chen Jiawen, vice dean of the School of Chemistry, and discussed student joint training in the field of chemistry, faculty exchange, and scientific research cooperation. Both SCNU and the University of Queensland expressed their hope to make full use of the excellent research teams and advanced experimental facilities at the two universities in the field of chemistry to actively promote cooperation at the student level, faculty level and in scientific research.
Finally, Han Peng, dean of the School of Electronic Science and Engineering, introduced the development history, faculty and professional settings of the school in detail to the delegation, and shared the school’s latest achievements in scientific research and innovation. There were discussions about the project cooperation at the student level, proposing various cooperation modes. Both sides shows a strong interest in project cooperation, and will actively take up the relevant work in the follow-up, and implement the specific cooperation matters as soon as possible.
The reciprocal visit of the University of Queensland came after the visit of SCNU’s vice-president Liu Jianwen to the University of Queensland in October, earlier this year. The visit not only enhanced the friendship and mutual trust between SCNU and the University of Queensland, but also laid a solid foundation for future cooperation between the two universities. Both visits have been conducive to jointly promoting the implementation of various cooperation project,s and contributing to the cultivation of high-quality talents with international vision and innovation ability.
