SCNU held the 2024 Joint Management Committee meeting with the University of Aberdeen online on November 5, aiming to further strengthen the collaboration between the two universities.
SCNU members exchange views with members of the University of Aberdeen on line.
Yang Zhongmin, president of SCNU, said that, since the establishment of the Aberdeen Institute of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence in May 2021, the members have witnessed smooth and effective progress in talent cultivation, teacher training, research collaboration, operation management and other fields. The Foshan campus, where the Aberdeen Institute is located, has been positioned as the model campus for internationalization. It is hoped that the development of the Aberdeen Institute will be a driving force for the internationalization of SCNU.
Wang Chunchao, vice-president of SCNU, emphasized on the long-standing and close cooperation between the two universities. SCNU will take the opportunity of the evaluation of the 2026 Chinese-Foreign Cooperation in Running Schools and the Aberdeen Institute’s plan and further deepen cooperation with the University of Aberdeen to promote the high-quality development of the Aberdeen Institute.

Also at the meeting, the committee members discussed and approved the minutes of the 2023 meeting and the Committee's terms of reference and membership; and reported on items such as student academic performance for the 2023-2024 school year, the Aberdeen Institute's plan for the development of graduate and doctoral students, the proposal for the 2025 Commencement Ceremony, and so on. Besides, the members of the academic committee and the management committee presented their annual reports.
Siladitya Bhattacharya and Jo-Anne Murray, vice-presidents of the University of Aberdeen, Aladdin Ayesh, vice dean of the Aberdeen Institute of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and other committee members also attended the meeting.
