Vice president of SCNU Wang Chunchao received a delegation of the International Association of University Presidents on October 18. At the meeting they talked of the challenges and the future development of higher education.

President Wang welcomed the visitors and briefed them about the university. He said that the visit offers a valuable opportunity to engage in face-to-face exchange, share practices and strengthen cooperation. "Together we can provide education of higher quality for students and cultivate more outstanding talents worldwide", he added.
Shawn Chen, president of the International Association of University Presidents, said that the Association provides a platform for talent introduction and educational cooperation. He hopes to make good use of the platform to bolster educational cooperation in the future.
The participants exchange views on artificial intelligence in education at the meeting.
The delegation looked at the School of Optoelectronic Science and Engineering and the School of Computer Science of SCNU in terms of their disciplines and programs, education system and research achievements. Later the participants exchanged views on matters such as AI in education and talent development. Then, the delegation also took a tour of the educational AI experience lab and learnt about SCNU’s latest research and technology application in artificial intelligence in education.

Tu Hongzhe, deputy director of Foreign Affairs Office of Guangzhou, Huang Kaixuan, deputy chief executive of Tianhe District, and Fan Qun, chairman of Guangzhou International Cooperation Center participated in the event, along with relevant department heads and faculty representatives from SCNU.
The delegation, including 17 university presidents, senior administrators, experts and scholars from dozen domestic and international organizations and universities, traveled to campus as part of the schedule of the “Innovative Development in Greater Bay Area – 2024 IAUP Guangzhou trip”, which was directed by the Foreign Affairs Office and Education Bureau of Guangzhou Municipality and organized by Guangzhou International Cooperation Center.
