SCNU has 27 first-level disciplines listed in 2024 Best Chinese Subjects Ranking (BCSR), a professional higher educational evaluation system published by the Shanghai Ranking Consultancy on October 15, ranking 45th among all universities and 4th among teacher training universities in China.

Among the listed disciplines, Psychology is in the top 3% (2nd) nationally, maintaining its position among China’s top disciplines. Education and Marxism Theory rank in the top 7%, while Physics and Physical Education are in the top 12%, all qualified as China’s first-class disciplines. 

Chemistry, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Foreign Language and Literature, and Philosophy are in the top 20%, while Chinese Language and Literature, Geography, Environment Science and Engineering, Biology, and Public Administration are in the top 30%. Compared to last year, Foreign Language and Literature has moved up by 10 places, and Business Administration by 12, showing significant improvement. 

First published in 2017, the Best Chinese Subjects Ranking has adopted the first-level discipline category from the Directory of Graduate Disciplines (2022) issued by Academic Degrees Committee of the State Council and the Ministry of Education for the first time, covering 94 first-level disciplines, with 4,924 disciplines from 486 universities listed.
