Yang Zhongmin delivered an English keynote speech titled "Digital Intelligence Empowers and Nurtures Outstanding Creative Talent in the new Era" at the event held on September 18. He introduced the basic situation of SCNU, its geographical advantages in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, its innovative talent cultivation system, as well as the use of Internet innovation platform to build a talent cultivation platform for creative thinking, interactive feedback, and competence assessment.
Taking students’ participation in international projects and innovation competitions, as well as their employment in the Greater Bay Area in the recent five years as an example, Yang further demonstrated that SCNU has made progress in the application of digital technology for talent cultivation and teaching staff construction.
The delegation visited Consul General of China in St. Petersburg Luo Zhanhui on September 19 and had in-depth exchange on further strengthening the University’s educational cooperation with Russia. Yang said SCNU would further expand and deepen cooperation with Russian universities in terms of international joint training and China-Russian cultural and people-to-people exchange. Luo Zhanhui recognized SCNU’s achievements and will continue to support South China Normal University in this regard.
The same day, the delegation held an overseas talent exchange meeting in St. Petersburg. About 80 young scholars studying and living in the city participated in the event and learnt about SCNU’s talent recruitment policies.
The delegation then visited St. Petersburg University and discussed cooperation between the two universities with Vladimir Starostenko, vice president of SPbU on September 20. South China Normal University has signed a memorandum of cooperation with SPbU, and there is room for further cooperation in humanities, fundamental science, and digital intelligence education, said Yang.
On top of that, the delegation also had in-depth exchange with department heads and relevant staff on the development of joint laboratories, joint training of students, teacher and student exchange, and the introduction of high-level talents.
The visit is of great significance to further consolidate and expand the network of partnerships between SCNU and Russian universities and to enhance our university’s internationalization of talent cultivation and scientific research.
