The Ministry of Education (MOE) recently issued a notice on further promoting the implementation of the National Excellent Primary and Secondary School Teachers Training Program (hereafter referred to as the Program). Eleven "double world-class project" universities including SCNU and two universities in Hong Kong have been selected in the second batch pilot universities for the Program.

According to the requirements of the Program, SCNU will launch the selection of postgraduate recommendation and also select current graduate students for the Program starting from this September, with a focus on training highly qualified talents of science majors for primary and secondary schools at the postgraduate level. Apart from taking specialized courses, students are also required to take no less than 26 credits of modular courses and educational practice in teacher education.

Launched in 2013, the Program aims to cultivate a number of outstanding postgraduates with a passion for teacher education and equipped with outstanding professional knowledge and solid teaching skills, and get them prepared for teaching in primary and secondary schools. To this end, SCNU will give full play to its strengths of teacher education and characteristics of science and technology disciplines, mobilize internal and external resources, explore new paths of deepening teacher education reform, and contribute to a strong teaching workforce and the cultivation of innovative talents in basic education.
