The National Office for Education Sciences Planning has approved funding for a total of 474 projects. South China Normal University receives funding for 14 projects, including 11 at the state level and three supported by the Ministry of Education, The number of approved projects ranks third among national colleges and universities and first for the number of national projects in Guangdong province, the results of which are best ever achieved. 

The 14 approved projects cover seven secondary disciplines: Teacher Education, Higher Education and Education Information Technology (each with three projects), Comparative Education with two projects, and Curriculum and Teaching Methodology, History of Education and Pre-school Education  (each with one project).
