According to the requirements of the Department of Education, SCNU will complete the construction of the pilot zones within four years. During the period, SCNU aims to develop an innovative advanced international curriculum system that features interdisciplinary learning and research, and build a talent cultivation model in basic disciplines that can be replicated and promoted.

The talent cultivation pilot zone for basic disciplines serves as a crucial implementation vehicle for the "Guangdong Long-Term Basic Education Program" that aims to cultivate top-notch innovative talents majoring in basic disciplines. It is reported that ten undergraduate majors of SCNU were selected as the first batch of basic disciplines supported by the Program.
