From June 23 to 30, a delegation of South China Normal University, led by Wang Binwei, Secretary of the CPC Committee of SCNU, visited Russia and Kyrgyzstan to promote educational cooperation and academic exchange, marking the first time in 10 years for a university-level delegation of SCNU to visit and conduct an exchange with Russia.
The visit demonstrates the great importance of consolidating and expanding partnership networks between SCNU and several universities in Russia and Kyrgyzstan. It also enhances the university's level of internationalization in talent cultivation, faculty team building and scientific research, contributing to the high-quality development of the opening up of education of SCNU.
The delegation visited five universities and institutions including the Lomonosov Moscow State University, the St Petersburg University, the Herzen State Pedagogical University in Russia, the Bishkek State University and its Confucius Institute in Kyrgyzstan, as well as the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Kyrgyz Republic and gave an introduction of SCNU in terms of its history, features, vision and related facts and figures.

At the Lomonosov Moscow State University (MSU), Wang Binwei elucidated SCNU's construction of the Russian language major and student exchange between Chinese and Russian students at SCNU. He hoped that the two universities could expand the study field and cooperation mode based on the current Sino-Russian student exchange program.
Yuri A. Mazei, Vice-rector of of MSU in charge of International Affairs, said that the two universities have implemented the two-way student exchange program since the intercollegiate agreement was signed last year; the experience of Sino-foreign cooperative education which MSU has put into practice in Shenzhen, Guangdong province, could be drawn upon. He discussed with Wang on the feasibility of implementing Sino-foreign cooperative education between the two institutions.

The two sides also talked about and reached a consensus on further cooperation in the following fields: the expansion of students' exchange in the disciplines of mathematics, physics, psychology, and geography, the development of a joint research center and an overseas internship base for international Chinese language education, as well as the mutual appointment of teachers.

At the St Petersburg University (SPbU), Wang suggested that SCNU and SPbU could stimulate intercollegiate cooperation in the areas of student exchange, teacher exchange visits, and academic research. Valeria Malomuzh, Deputy Vice-Rector for International Affairs of SPbU, extended a warm welcome to the visit of the SCNU delegation. She then illustrated the school's history, achievements, discipline characteristics and strengths, and especially the exchange with Chinese universities. She also anticipated to establish partnership and exchange with SCNU.
During the session, the two sides signed a cooperation framework agreement, which marked intercollegiate partnership was officially concluded. They also reached a consensus on cooperation in joint cultivation of double degree, exchange visits of faculty and students, and joint declaration of research projects.

The delegation also visited the Herzen State Pedagogical University of Russia (Herzen University). At the Herzen University, Wang emphasized that the teacher education around the world is like one family and hoped to establish a long-term partnership between the two universities, thus promoting high-quality development and mutual learning in teacher education between two universities even two nations.
Vice-Rector for Educational Activities of the Herzen University, Viktoriya I. Snegurova, pointed out that the two institutions share the same traditions and discipline strengths. She expected the two universities would cooperate in the student exchange program, double degree program, and international student education in the field of basic studies and humanity art.
The two sides also exchanged ideas on exchange visits of faculty and students, concerted cultivation of postgraduates, and teacher training.

During the visit to Kyrgyzstan, the delegation visited the faculty and students from the Bishkek State University (BHU) and the Confucius Institute of BHU. At the meeting with the Kyrgyzstan side, Wang depicted SCNU's achievements in international student education in recent years, especially the cultivation of Kyrgyzstan students. The school's promotional video for undergraduate admission was shown, which embodies the comprehensive strength, history and development achievements of SCNU and has attracted the present faculty and students.
Vice-Rector for International Relations of BHU, Gulzat Tynybekovna Isamatova, gave a brief introduction about the history and basic information about BHU and then emphasized the characteristics, history and development achievements of the Confucius Institute of BHU.
Also the two sides delved into joint cultivation of international students studying at SCNU, mutual construction of courses, and summer and winter camp activities.
The delegation visits the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Kyrgyz Republic.

On top of visits to the academic institutions, the delegation also visited the Embassy of the People's Republic of China in the Kyrgyz Republic, and had a meeting with Li Baojie, the Minister-Counselor of the Chinese Embassy in Kyrgyzstan. Wang briefed Li about the university's school running and cooperation with the Kyrgyzstan side and indicated that SCNU will promote and deepen cooperation with Kyrgyzstan universities in joint cultivation of international students and people-to-people exchange between China and Kyrgyzstan. It's hoped to make its contributions to the educational exchange between the two nations and the high-quality development of the "Belt and Road" Initiative, said Wang.
Li mentioned that SCNU has been in cooperation with BHU for a long time and has achieved a lot in educational exchange. Since the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway project was signed this June, there will be new opportunities for the two nations' educational exchange and cooperation. The Chinese Embassy in Kyrgyzstan will continue to suport the educational exchange and cooperation between SCNU and inistitutions in Kyrgyzstan.
SCNU delegation holds an overseas talent exchange conference in Moscow.
In addition to exchange with Russian universities, in Moscow, the capital city of Russia, the delegation held SCNU's first overseas talent exchange conference in 2024. Around 80 youth scholars who live and study in Russia attended the event to learn about SCNU's talent recruitment policies and had a face-to-face exchange with the delegation. What's more, the delegation also called on SCNU alumni and students who live and study in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and Bishkek and exchanged ideas with them.
