From May 18-25, a delegation of SCNU led by researcher Zhou Xian, head of the SCNU Publicity Department, and professor Guan Feng, dean of the School of Marxism, visited France and Latvia, and conduct academic exchange with local scholars and universities.

In Paris, the delegation visited Prof. Bruno Guigue, a well-known French scholar and expert on international issues. Prof. Guigue attached great importance to this visit of the delegation. When he learned that the members of the group were mainly from the School of Marxism, he intentionally chose the venue of the talks to be the Café Régence in Paris, the place where Marx and Engels first met in 1844. "Just as the meeting between Marx and Engels was historic, I hope the meeting with you will be equally historic," Prof. Guigue said. During the meeting, Prof. Guigue expressed his full respect for SCNU, noting that the university has a deep academic heritage and a global vision.

Zhou Xian expressed his full gratitude to Prof. Guigue for his long-term contribution to Sino-French relations, pointing out that his article on China's development from an objective and neutral perspective not only had important academic significance, but also was of extraordinary practical value. Zhou then showed his expectation of Guigue's continuous writing on the story of China's development and becoming a messenger of Sino-French friendly relations.

Guan Feng expressed his hope that Prof. Guigue would establish a long-term cooperative relationship with SCNU, and strengthen academic exchange between the two sides by means of academic lectures, publication of papers, joint cultivation of students, and joint development of projects, etc. Prof. Guigue agreed and had a full discussion with the delegation on issues related to the development of modern China and the Chinese path to modernization.
