Elsevier officially released the 2023 list of "Highly Cited Chinese Researchers" on March 27. SCNU boasted 19 scholars on the list, ranking 3rd among teacher training universities and 67th among all universities in China.
The 19 scholars on the list were selected across 5 discipline areas including science, education, economics, literature, and engineering, and science has 11 of the 19 reseachers. The 19 scholars encompassed 11 first-level disciplines recognized by the Ministry of Education such as physics, education, physical education, mathematics, and chemistry.
The 2023 list of "Highly Cited Chinese Researchers" included 496 institutions and 5801 reseachers. It accurately reflects the dominant discipline composition and talent distribution of institutions and universities, attracting significant attention from domestic and international media as well as scholars.
Since its first inclusion on the list of "Highly Cited Chinese Researchers" in 2014, SCNU has been constantly on the list, with the number of the reseachers included rising from the initial 5 to the present 19, folding nearly 3 times than the beginning.
The list utilizes Scopus, a globally authoritative citation and index database, as the statistical source for Chinese scholars' scientific research achievements. It adopts a method developed by ShanghaiRanking Consultancy, to select the most globally influential Chinese scholars across various disciplines based on their published scientific research achievements as first authors and corresponding authors.
