The 2023 Maritime Silk Road International Conference on the Cooperation and Integration of Industry, Education, Research, and Application - Advanced Interdisciplinary Forum on the Frontiers of Physics and Lectures Series on Physics of Guangdong, Hong Kong and Macao (MSRIC 2023 - Physics) was held at SCNU from November 13 to 15.

Themed "Promote interdisciplinary integration of Maritime Silk Road countries, study the nature of things to acquire knowledge and cultivate talents", the conference aimed at exploration of ways to promote interdisciplinary research between physics and various disciplines including materials, information and chemistry, and facilitate the cooperation of industry, education and research. It aimed to help transform scientific achievements into industrial technology, as well as enhance the development and innovative ability of the international forefront physical technologies.

Wang Enke, president of SCNU, gave a welcome speech at the opening ceremony. He indicated that SCNU has committed to serving the country's opening up and answer to the need for regional development. Utilizing the advantages of its first-class discipline of Physics and national key discipline of Optics, SCNU has made great achievements in exchange and cooperation in scientific research with countries and regions along the Maritime Silk Road.

He hoped that SCNU would continue to implement the Belt and Road Science, Technology and Cooperation Action Plan together with other universities at home and abroad. SCNU would also stand ready to further international scientific and technology innovative exchange and cooperation to support the development of the "Belt and Road" Initiative.

The conference included a plenary speech and a sub-forum. Nine experts from countries and regions including Sweden, the Netherlands, Thailand, and Hong Kong, gave plenary speeches. Dr. Sune Svanberg, Dr. Alfons van Blaaderen, Professor Wang Zidan and Professor Worawat Meevasana gave speeches respectively on the topic of "Multi-Disciplinary Laser Spectroscopy", "Towards Smart Colloids through Dispersion Supraparticles", "Non-Hermitian Topological Phase" and "Quantum Technology for Energy Storage and Electricity Grid Optimization".

A sub-forum was also held at the conference and focused on two areas: Optical Information Physics and Technology; Atomic and Subatomic Physics. Distinguished scientists and engineers of the physics, materials, and chemistry disciplines, and entrepreneurs at home and abroad shared experience and delivered keynote speeches in the sub-forum.

At the closing ceremony, Professor Bernard L. Feringa, academician of the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences (KNAW), concluded the conference. He praised that this high-level international cooperative conference has provided a platform for domestic and foreign scholars and industry colleagues to exchange ideas and created more opportunities for international cooperation.

"Science knows no boundaries," said Professor Feringa. He proposed that every attendee uphold the Maritime Silk Road Spirit of "openness, inclusiveness, exchange, and cooperation", and inherit the conference's achievements. He also called for endeavors to pursue and achieve the shared vision of leading the innovation and development of related disciplines and industries.
