From November 18 to 25, a delegation of SCNU, led by Wang Binwei, Secretary of the CPC SCNU Committee, visited France and the UK to promote educational cooperation and academic exchange.
The delegation visited the University of Tours, the University of Aberdeen, the Oxford Prospects and Global Development Institute and the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. They also called on alumni and students working and studying in the two countries.
At the meeting at the University of Tours (UT) in France, Wang introduced the history of SCNU and the latest progress on the Sino-French Joint Undergraduate Program. Arnaud Giacometti, the president of the University of Tours, reviewed the cooperation between the two universities since 2011. He also expressed his gratitude for SCNU’s support and expected successful further cooperation.
During the session, the two parties exchanged their ideas on the feasibility of setting up a China Business Immersion Program (CBI) at the University of Tours and discussed faculty exchange and training. The visit witnessed the two sides signing a French Teaching Service Agreement.

At the meeting with faculty of the University of Aberdeen, Wang spoke about the progress in the cooperation on the Sino-British Joint Undergraduate Program. Since 2007, the two universities have promoted cooperation on talent cultivation, the building of teaching teams, joint curriculum development, and cooperative education programs.
George Boyne, principal and vice-chancellor of the University of Aberdeen, spoke highly of the cooperation between the two schools over the past 16 years and looks forward to expanding the cooperation. He also hopes to visit SCNU next year.
Vice-principals Alan Speight, Ruth Taylor, and Pete Edwards praised SCNU’s students. Though being the first cohort to study at the institute, 99.4% of sophomores at the Aberdeen Institute of Data Science and Artificial Intelligence of SCNU were successfully promoted to the third academic year. More than 60% of the students graduated and obtained First-class Honours Degrees through the Finance (Sino-British Cooperation) Program at the International Business College, the proportion excelling among international students from other countries and even local students.
During the visit, the two parties had in-depth discussions on several issues about cooperative talent training, and renewed the cooperation memorandum.
