Raimo Salo, dean of the Oulu University Teacher Training School, and Tanyu Chen, Customer Relation Manager at the Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK), visited SCNU on September 27.

During the talk, Huang Daoming first extended a warm welcome to the visitors. He briefly introduced the College of Teacher Education of SCNU. The college aims to promote the integration of the pre-service and post-service training of teachers and manages both the cultivation and the overall administration of educators. The college is the first of its kind in China.

He added that, the college was undertaking several national and provincial training programs, including the Educational Leadership Learning Exchange (ELLE) program, the National Training Program and the Hundred, Thousand and Ten-Thousand Talents Project of Guangdong province. Based in the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, the college has always been dedicated to improving the cultivation of principals and teachers to meet the demands of a changing world.

Raimo Salo shared the educational characteristics of the University of Oulu and the education mode of the Oulu University Teacher Training School. He added that two primary schools, one junior high school, and one senior high school are affiliated to the school, thus providing chances for the school's students to conduct practicums.

Starting from the year-long cooperation between TAMK and SCNU, Tanyu Chen, also recalled the history of cooperation between Tampere, in Finland and Guangzhou, in China. The two cities reached an initial intention of friendly cooperation in 2014, consolidating the foundation for conducting principal and teacher training programs. Additionally, several training programs were mutually carried out by the two cities from 2016 to 2019, which received positive feedback.

Chen also presented the Finnish model of interdisciplinarity pedagogy, which is to incorporate language and cultural knowledge into the learning of art during teaching. It could help the students to foster a deep understanding.

The three parties all expressed their willingness to cooperate. Subsequently, they conducted detailed discussions about the principal and teacher training programs. The visit enhanced mutual understanding and strengthened the bonds of friendship, while establishing a foundation for future cooperation.

The University of Oulu, founded in 1958, is one of the largest and most multidisciplinary universities in Finland. The Oulu University Teacher Training School is a scientifically oriented practice school for teachers at the University of Oulu, Finland.

The Tampere University of Applied Sciences (TAMK) is part of the Tampere University communities in Tampere, Finland's most attractive student city. TAMK is one of the largest universities of applied sciences in Finland, and it is famous for multidisciplinary education, creativity, and its strong international dimension.
