The Prosperity in Diversity Sino-Foreign Art Exhibition opened at SCNU on September 19, mainly showing famous art works from the period of 960 to 1279 in China’s Song Dynasty and from 1400 to 1580 in Europe.
The exhibition is jointly sponsored by the International Exchange and Cooperation Office, the School of Fine Arts and the SCNU library. It will run until late November and be hosted successively on four SCNU campuses.
Yang Zhongmin, vice president of SCNU, indicated that it was easiest to understand each other through literature and art, two universal languages. Therefore, literature and art play an increasingly important role in international exchange, cultural exchange and mutual learning. In this context, the exhibition was of great significance for the deepening of foreign exchange and cooperation and the cultivation of students’ international insight and cross-cultural awareness.
Xie Chaoyang, secretary of the School of Fine Arts, said that the school adheres to the roots of Chinese culture and cultural self-confidence in cultivating talents. At the same time, with an open and inclusive mentality, the exhibition also draws on the beneficial achievements of different civilizations, while making positive contributions to enhancing the international influence of Chinese culture.
